Datacenter

About datacenters

The Namex datacenter system consists of seven datacenters, five of which are located in Rome:
  • Caesar, owned by Namex, is our historical datacenter in the city centre
  • Tiberius, hosted by Digital Realty, is located in the eastern part of the city
  • Claudius, hosted by Cloud Europe, is situated on the eastern side of the city
  • Augustus, hosted by Unidata, is positioned on the western side of the city
  • Hadrianus , hosted by Aruba, is situated on the eastern side of the city
The remaining two, outside of Rome, are the following:
  • Virgilius, based in Bari
  • Plinius, located in Naples

The datacenter system

The datacenter system is homogeneous and guarantees high-quality service regardless of the site where we host the ISP.

The Roman PoPs are connected in a shared metropolitan network, while our Bari and Naples datacenters are fully independent.

Each datacenter is equipped with high-standard service continuity and availability systems; each rack is provided with two resilient power lines, protected with UPS systems and generators, and customizable power capacity and security.

Operation areas

Inside each datacenter, several operations areas can be found:

  • Carrier room:
dedicated to the housing of carriers’ transmissive devices and to L1/L2 interconnections between carriers, by means of dedicated cabling infrastructures (meet-me area).
  • Housing area:
dedicated to the housing of carriers’ PoPs
  • Namex room:
dedicated to the exchange point and to the housing of members’ L3 devices

Namex provides full 24x7x365 operational support, by means of its NOC service.

About
datacenters

Namex datacenter system is made up of three datacenters: Caesar, hosted by CINECA, in the heart of Rome, our historical datacenter; Tiberius, hosted by Interxion, on the eastern side of the city; Augustus, hosted by Unidata, on the western side of the city.

The datacenter
system

The datacenter system is homogeneous and guarantees high-quality service regardless of the site where we host the ISP. The three PoPs are linked by a dark fiber path provided by a carrier that was already present at Caesar datacenter.

Each datacenter is equipped with high-standard service continuity and availability systems; each rack is provided with two distinct AC 220V power lines, with either 16A or 32A capacity, and protected with UPS systems and generators.
