NaMeX, in collaboration with TOP-IX and VS-IX, hosted the 33rd edition of the European Internet Exchanges Association (Euro-IX) in the charming city of Venice, on November 3-5. More than 120 participants representing IXPs, vendors and research groups from all around Europe and many overseas countries, gathered on the Venetian lagoon to attend a three-day event full of opportunities to meet each other, discuss topics and exchange ideas and experiences in the development and operations of Internet Exchanges.
The meeting started on Sunday with the usual social gathering event: a fascinating trip to the island of Burano, to visit an ancient glass factory, followed by an intense tour of the city of Venice which ended with the visit of San Marco’s Basilica, one of Italy’s most renowned monuments. Social aperitif and dinner closed the day and officially started the two-day marathon. During the conference, we saw debates and presentations about technical, regulatory and strategic issues involving IXPs and the Internet community across Europe and overseas.
Social gala dinner was hosted in the warm and cosy atmosphere of Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal, a former gold Age Casino of ancient Venetian Republic. Attendees had the opportunity to breathe the atmosphere of Casanova’s tales and try out some old gambling games re-enacted for the occasion.
All in all, one of the best Euro-IX meetings so far, according to attendees’ reviews, to which NAMEX contributed not only with sponsoring and logistics efforts, but also taking care of high-performance network connectivity for attendees and guests during their stay.
We really thank you so much for your feedback and your participation. See you in Toulouse!
