NaMeX and AMS-IX are Internet Exchange Points with different and complementary features. AMS-IX is one of the largest IXPs in Europe and is located in one of the core points for the worldwide Internet, Amsterdam. It offers its members great potential in exchanging traffic due to the presence of a large diversity of ISPs, carriers, content parties and mobile networks.

NaMeX is located in the gate of the Mediterranean – Rome, Italy - and provides its members one of the best facilities in Southern Europe to support interconnections between network operators and is a natural gateway to Europe for carriers and ISPs coming from Mediterranean and Middle East area.

NaMeX and AMS-IX have developed a partnership in order to mutually increase the number of connecting networks. That’s why AMS-IX and NaMeX have agreed upon common strategies to pursue this goal.

Among these, a link between NaMeX and AMS-IX enables operators who are present in Rome to connect and peer with members in Amsterdam, whilst operators in AMS-IX will have new business opportunities in Rome. Not only do Mediterranean and Middle eastern members in Rome enjoy the advantages of this connection, but AMS-IX members benefit from access to new, unique, and rapidly growing members from South and beyond at their exchange.

NaMeX Peering Workshop 2010 will be held on Friday, July 9th 2010 in Roma at Radisson SAS Es Hotel, in Via Filippo Turati 171.

Main argument of the day will be "The new frontiers of peering".

The event will be sponsored by Juniper Networks

This year, NaMeX has organized a tour to the Gran Sasso National Laboratories, the day after the peering Workshop, July 10th 2010. The tour will take place in the morning and it will last about 2 hours. At the end of the tour, a meal will be served in a typical Abruzzi restaurant.

NaMeX is pleased to announce that it will host, together with Consortium CASPUR, the 61th RIPE Meeting, that will be held in Rome from 15th to 19th November 2010. The meeting will be held in the wonderful location of Via Veneto, inside the Hotel Excelsior and will see the presence of ISPs and researchers from Europe and the rest of the world.

RIPE is one of the most important worldwide organizations in the Internet governance, both because it is responsible for IP addresses assignment for the region of Europe and Middle East and because its meetings and its Working Groups are one of the places where actually takes place the worldwide Internet growth and evolution.

RIPE was born 20 years ago from an initiative of some Internet pioneers (among which the italians Enzo Valente from GARR and Blasco Bonito, CNR) and from that point it has played a major role in the evolution of the Internet. Its Working Groups are actively involved in all discussions about worldwide Internet growth and improvement.

Peering service fees have been furtherly lowered, to take into account the current costs of Internet transit and the overall evolution of prices throughout European Internet Exchanges.

NaMeX will host the 15th edition of the Euro-IX Forum, the association bringhing together all major IXP around Europe, and some important IXP from Asia and North America.

In this occasion technical and business representatives from 43 different IXPs will meet together, the event will start on the evening of sunday, 1st November and end on the afternoon of tuesday, 3rd November.
