Private peering
NaMeX members are offered the possibility of exchanging private IP traffic, according to several ways.
Traffic volumes exchanged across private interconnects are considered in the overall monthly bandwidth consumption accounting.
Private VLANs
Groups of operators can request the set up of private VLANs to exchange traffic separately from the public peering VLAN.
Transit VLANs
Operators willing to provide/acquire Internet transit through NaMeX switching fabrics, can take advantage of private transit VLANs, according to the following terms:
- an operator willing to provide Internet transit must ask for the activation of a transit VLAN in the role of an initiator
- operators willing to acquire Internet transit from another party must ask for the association to a previously created transit VLAN, in the role of a participant
Back-to-back connections
Two operators can request a Private Interconnect, in fiber or copper, linking their routers directly without having to pass through L2 switches.
Members wanting to set up a Private Interconnect should contact NaMeX NOC, to request the service and find with NaMeX staff a way to provide traffic stats for the connections.
