Public Connectivity System

Starting from February 2007, NaMeX hosts the Rome PoP of Public Connectivity System (SPC). For SPC infrastructure, NaMeX has devoted part of the space in their local equipping the data room of all the security measures and control necessary for the benefit of all members.

The SPC infrastructure is distributed and based on a multi-provider network called Qualified Network eXchange (QXN) which are connected Internet Service Providers who provide professional services to public administrations (PA).

The main reason why SPC has decided to place its PoP within Internet eXchange Points is because at the strategic level, these sites have a high concentration of ISPs, as well as standards of reliability and safety required.

Currently, the Internet Service Provider involved are BT Italy, Fastweb, Telecom and Wind Italy. SPC is active on the Milan site, hosted by MIX IXP and Roman site hosted by precisely NaMeX.
